This series came about by way of an inexpensive single-channel-output mixer I was using, and more often than not features the collaboration of Shahrod. These are the first recordings I have of long-form looping sample-based improvised performance of the kind I would pursue in stereo with heal_the_bay and Mother of Vinegar. I now use a different interface and this series is not currently a priority, but may be continued in the future.
MONO-000 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed with Shahrod with two computers and drum machines on Bastille Day, 2019. Presented uncut as it was played and paired with my own looping video, photographed the evening of the performance. [1:35:14]
MONO-001 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed solo with computer-triggered samples and drum machines in December 2019. This recording was edited down from a slightly longer one and paired with found video. [21:38]
MONO-002 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed with Shahrod in January 2020. Edited down from a longer recording and paired with found video. [30:10]
MONO-003 [Youtube] [192kbps MP3] was performed with Shahrod as a "heal_the_bay" stream on August 9, 2020; in the video the tracks are arbitrarily split across two stereo channels, but the intended monaural fidelity was restored for the MP3 linked to above. This recording contains no samples: Shahrod played drum machines while I used the computer to manipulate a popular FM synthesizer. [41:30]
MONO-004 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed solo as a Mother of Vinegar stream on September 28, 2022; as with the previous MONO stream, it contains no samples, only computer-manipulated drum machine and FM synthesizers. [23:27]
MONO-005 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed with Shahrod with a laptop, drum machines, radio, and contact microphone on Bastille Day 2024 to celebrate the fifth anniversary of MONO-000. Presented uncut as it was played. [39:44]
MONO-006 [Youtube] [320kbps MP3] was performed with Shahrod with a laptop and drum machines on October 6, 2024 and is presented uncut as it was played. [1:22:45]
